My A-Z theme for the month of April is romance and the modern, technology-driven cubicle dweller (like me).
I almost went with Love or Lust for my L word, because with romance it makes sense, right? But we’re only just hitting the halfway mark and I’ve already taken the easy out a couple times on word choice. So I thought I’d mix it up a little today.
And on the surface, lose (not loose) doesn’t sound like a very romantic word. But in the same way the Death card in a Tarot deck is as much about a new chapter in life as it is about the old one coming to an end, lost things aren’t always negative.
Sure, you can lose your keys, your wallet, or even your trust.
But you can also lose your inhibitions, your fears, and the self doubt that frequently holds us back. Even if it’s not a permanent loss (which it usually won’t be) as long as you let it go long enough to step forward and go after that special someone, losing can also mean finding something wonderful.
What would make you happy, rather than sad, if you lost it?
Losing my self criticism, certainly.
Also, this post makes me think that lose is usually seen at the end of a relationship, and some of the greatest love stories ever told are short ones that don’t end in happily ever after.
Losing isn’t always a bad thing. Losing virginity is something people strive for and losing their fears or inhibitions.
